Protect Paradise Forest

Do you know that lathering a soap, munching chips and lavishing yourself with a chocolate actually, in a away, contributes to deforestation and ultimately climate change? See the video.

The link? Palm Oil Demand.

Palm oil is a raw material derived from forest trees used for beauty products, foods and biofuels. Many industries/companies, like Unilever, Procter & Gamble, local or international, use palm oil for mass production. Deforestation as a result of palm oil demand is quite alarming, see the result.

Imagine the life that were taken from the habitat, they may have not been deliberately killed but the species (Tribes, Orangutans, Sumatran Tigers, Rafflesia, insects, and of course the Ancient trees! around that area will definitely die, in time, if they are not that fast enough to adapt.

Greenpeace took action, as well as the millions that sent petitions for a moratorium to stop deforestation of the Paradise Forest of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, one of the largest forest reserve in the world. Well, good thing, Unilever took action by putting a hold on importing palm oil until there is a clear law about the harvesting of palm oil, but the damage has been done, they even said that they have a sustainable supply until 2015. Imagine that! We hope that other companies, big or small players, and even the locals start thinking about this massive destruction and what this would cost us in the near future.

Solution: Control.

Help us!

Post Script: Cadbury has palm oil, hmmm, but I still love it!
